FIFTY SECOND ANNUAL MEETING

LAKE MADISON DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION

 

Call to Order

Terry Ryan called the meeting to order at 12:10 P.M.  He was presiding for outgoing President Matt Larson.  He welcomed the members of the Lake Madison Development Association (LMDA) to the Fifty Second Annual Meeting.  The meeting was held at the Hillside Resort, August 1, 2010.

 

Secretary’s Report

The minutes of the 2009 meeting are posted on the WEB site at LakeMadison.info.net.  They were also listed in The Lake News.

 

Treasurer’s Report

Millie Moser gave the financial report for the year 2010.  Income for the year included: membership dues, contributions to the water quality project, advertising sold in Lake News and Directory.  Expenses for the year included: printing of Directories, the Lake News, flyers, postage, cost of picnic, operating expenses, expenses of water quality project, donations to Forward Madison, Lake County Search & Rescue, and Lake County Crime Stoppers.

 

County Commissioner, Scott Peterson, appeared on behalf of Lake County Commission.  He reported the public access area (the old poor farm) has been opened since Memorial Day.  He also reported on the Water Quality Committee formed by the County Commission earlier this year.  There are 17 volunteers serving on the Board. Monthly meetings are held at the SD Association of Rural Water building.  The water quality group is looking at hiring an environmental enforcement officer shortly.  He thanked the Association for their participation in water quality.

 

Brandon Gust, Game Fish & Parks game Warden reported that Walleye fishing is the best it’s been for years.  A fishing survey of Lake Madison showed that the lake holds perch, walleye, crappies and bluegill.  He indicated this has been a good reproduction year.  There has also been some stocking.  BUI’s are down this year.  He also reported no boat accidents to date and reminded residents that floating docks be brought in each day and display a 3’ flag during the daytime. 

 

Tim Wahlburg reported that it has been a good summer.  Burglaries and assaults are down.  People are reporting suspicious activities.  Golf carts may be licensed to drive on county roads.

 

Committee Reports

 

Membership Chairman, Terry Ryan, thanked the people who were present for paying their dues.  He reported a membership of 565.  He asked people to ask their neighbors to join the Association.   He also asked for volunteers from all areas to be on a membership committee.  

 

Terry Ryan thanked Lake County Search & Rescue and presented Robert Schoeberl with a $500 donation.  Robert thanked the Association for being invited and for the donation.

 

Election

The executive Committee is stated as being: President Mike Halverson, Vice-President Callie Wockenfuss, second Vice-President Ladelle Swiden, Treasurer Millie Moser, Secretary Michelle Anderson and past president Matt Larson.  Terry Ryan is membership chairman. 

 

Terry Ryan welcomed incoming president, Mike Halverson.  Mike thanked Matt for the work that he did during his term in office.  He also thanked Callie, Millie and Michelle for the work they do to keep the Association running.

 

Adjournment

The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 p.m.

Thanks to Mike & Jody Anderson and the Hillside staff for serving the very enjoyable lunch.  Drawings for prizes were held after the lunch.
