w Jeff Nelson motioned to authorize $7,500.00 to water testing. Dieter Proehl seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Martin introduced Dale Droge from Dakota State University
Dale Droge thanked the Association for doing such a wonderful job of collecting volunteer donations to help pay for the water quality projects. Dale stated that phosphorous levels are staying the same at a high rate.
Martin introduced Melissa Christianson and welcomed her to the meeting. Melissa is the new Environmental Service Officer for Lake County. She is a local person and will work with the Clean Water Committee.
Jan Nicolay stated that we should all watch Senate Bill #11-78 which would allow Game Fish & Parks access to private land.
Terry Ryan, Membership Committee Chairman is concerned that not many Directors come to the meetings. He would like to know how many active Directors we have. He would like Directors from all over the lake to help with membership. A list of people that have not paid will be handed out at the May meeting. Directors will be asked to call on those people.
w Discussion was held on how to get the Directories out in a timely manner. Usually, they are handed out by Directors. Unfortunately there are not Directors in all of the areas and people are not present when the Directories are delivered. They then get left hanging on the door if possible. Then it may rain or the wind picks up and Directories get lost or ruined. The possibility of mailing them was discussed. Rolly stated that they could be mailed out with the First Edition of the Lake News to save money. Scott Pederson stated that he would donate $500 toward the mailing and asked if he could add a flyer to the mailing. A copy of the Directory will be mailed to everyone this year to help promote membership. Martin Jarrrett motioned to accept Scott’s offer to help with the cost of mailing them this year and Rolly seconded. Motion carried.
New Business
Michelle Anderson reminded Directors that last year there was to be a LMDA Golf Tournament. It was to be held the same day as the Madison Chamber of Commerce Appreciation Day. It was rained out. She asked if that is something to be considered this year. After discussion it was decided to hold the tournament the same day as the Appreciation Luncheon.
The Lake Madison Development Association WEB site does not have anyone for maintenance at this time. Hiring someone to do it was discussed. Michael Swiden volunteered as Webmaster. The Association gladly accepted the offer.
Adjournment
Director Jeff Nelson motioned to adjourn at 9:00 P.M. as there was no further business. Director Proehl seconded. Motion carried.
